Juan graduated from the University of Puerto Rico with a Bachelor's in Business Administration. He served in Puerto Rico as a school and church administrator, overseeing fiscal operations, accounting, human resources, and general management for 10 years.
Upon relocating to South Carolina, Juan shifted his business career to healthcare beginning as a staff accountant. His attention to detail led to several promotions including roles as financial and reimbursement analyst, business analyst, and payroll manager. He then attained a promotion to leadership, becoming the director of operations for one of six hospital campuses. In his director’s role, Juan oversaw the business operation of the hospital, helped develop new business lines, participated in process improvement initiatives, and served as the campus compliance officer.
While in South Carolina, Juan was a charter member of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of South Carolina, being their first secretary; this being done while pursuing some business ventures. Juan opened and owned an insurance agency for several years. Throughout his professional career, Juan also has been a bi-vocational pastor for more than 35 years. He earned a doctorate degree in Ministry from Bob Jones University and wrote his doctoral dissertation as a methodology to mentor young pastors and local church leadership on stewardship, church administration, and compliance with fiscal law. During his free time Juan and his wife Carmen enjoy spending time with their son, daughter in law, and four grandchildren.
